Help with a rent emergency!

Hi, my name is Alisa and I am in need of some very urgent help.

Within the last year, my housemate has become disabled due to life-changing injuries and sudden onset of medical issues. A few months ago, these things became worse, and now the housemate is currently in a care facility for the time being. They are not able to work, and are currently getting very minimal disability benefits. Once they are home--we have no idea when that will be, either--there will be an adjustment period as a routine gets established, and the medical care will be continuing.

As a result of this, though, their portion of the rent contribution has basically been re-focused into covering the costs of the care facility.

The rent on the apartment is $2100 a month. The utilities bill is around $100 for this time of year.

I'm disabled myself. I'm Autistic, which has its own set of difficulties. I do have a full time job, but I don't pull in enough to cover the full rent on top of all my other bills--my own medical care, for instance. I've completely tapped out my tiny buffer of 'set aside' funds and it's not near enough to sustain things.

Asking for help, especially financial help, is hard. I feel like a failure, see, for having to ask for help like this. I'm just hoping that folks out there will be kind enough to help, even if it's just little bits at a time.

I'm hoping to raise $5000, which will help cover April, May, and June rent. Hopefully by that point, my housemate will be back home and into an established routine and back to working a few days a week.
