Please help Kent & his elderly mother

On the evening of Sunday, May 1st, 2022, someone forced his way into the home of my friend Kent.

Kent is a longtime New Albany resident and a member of the disability community.

Everyone who knows Kent can attest to the fact that he is kind and funny, and is never mean to anyone. I have known him and his family for over 30 years. He has often been bullied and attacked throughout his life. We need to do better to protect the disabled and elderly in New Albany.

Evil had preyed upon Kent again and his mother, this time in a viciously brutal attack. After the man entered the home, he accused Kent of owing him money for cutting the grass. Kent told him he did not owe anything. The man proceeded to brutally beat Kent. His mother offered to write the man a check to make the beating stop and he demanded cash. She threw whatever cash she had nearby and the man said it was not enough and continued to batter Kent and threw the television at him.

Kent’s mother is crippled. The man smacked the phone out of her hand preventing her from calling for help.

The man threatened Kent saying if the police were called, he will come back to kill his mother and him.

Kent went outside after the attack and someone nearby called for help. Kent was sent to University of Louisville Hospital for emergency care. As you see from the picture, this was an exceptional beating that could have taken the life of my friend.

The family has endured unexpected expenses due to the assault including security measures, nursing care, and they expect hefty medical bills and afraid to be in their home if this man gets released from jail .

Please help if you can. Let’s watch out for one another, especially those who are disadvantaged by disabilities, age, etc.
