Help save my daughter's health
Imagine having a normal child and all of a sudden having your world turned upside down when they develop symptoms of severe mental illness. This has been the story of our lives for the last 3 years. My oldest daughter we discovered (through many hours or research on my part) has a medical problem, a chronic and severe infection, as well as food allergies, which cause SYMPTOMS of mental illness.
Even though I have determined the medical cause for her symptoms, we still had to deal with the SYMPTOMS that manifest as a result of the infection. I won't mention all, but some are severe paranoia, mania, delusions, depression, suicidal ideations, insomnia, and psychosis. Not to mention all the side effects from the psychiatric drugs she has been on to "stabilize."
We are very close to our daughter and when she gets in these states of mind, we are the enemy and getting her to do what she needs to do is EXTREMELY challenging. But when she can come out of those states for a time, she is again our loving wonderful daughter.
Since the infection is so severe, it is now not responding to traditional treatments we have done in the past, so I need to get her to California to be treated by a specialist to receive IV treatments to kill the infection. She also needs IV treatments to heal the damage that has been done to her brain with the psychiatric drugs she has been placed on to "stablize" her. This treatment will allow her brain to heal and not be dependent on these medications for the rest of her life and return to a normal life.
I knew my daughter did not suddenly become mentally ill. I have finally found a doctor who has treated people just like my daughter who have gotten totally better as a result of treating the underlying medical cause and adopting a healthly holistic lifestyle. My daughter has done the best she can and has been very compliant with a healthy lifestyle, but the medications have made it difficult for her to sustain. We want to get her out of the viscious cycle as evidenced by 4 hospitalizations to psychiatric hospitals over the last 3 years.
There is nothing worse than leaving your child at a place like that and feeling helpless. There is also nothing worse than hearing your beautiful wonderful child say they wish they were never born and they can't wait until they can die. We all want the best for our children and I would do anything for my daughter and her health. Nothing else in this world matters to me right now except getting her better and for her to stay better.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am all about helping people. I have dedicated my life to helping others through my profession as a physical therapist for over 26 years now. After I save my daughter's life, I will dedicate myself to helping others who are in a similar situation, first by writing a book about our experience, and then by working with those who are working to change how people are treated with psychiatric SYMPTOMS by looking at the underlying medical cause and what is wrong with the PHYSICAL body such as candida and food allergies.
There is no other branch of medicine, except psychiatry, that does not look at the PHYSICAL BODY, only looking at the symptoms, and never getting to the underlying medical problem causing the symptoms. The ONLY time I have seen my daughter improve is when we treated the underlying infection and nutritional deficiencies through healthy diet and supplements. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate EVERYONE who has helped us along this journey, including psychiatrists, and the medication to sedate when we had no other choice.
We have had to sell my dream house and downsize as a result of medical expenses and treatments we have incurred over the last 3 years. If you can give to the cause of returning my daughter to a normal state of mind, I would greatly appreciate it. I have said, if we can't give our children the gift of a normal mind, how can they live a fulfilling life?
The money will be used for housing and transportation as well as my lost wages while I am with her in California for the treatments. Since she needs me to cook a special diet due to her food allergies, I need to rent a place with a full kitchen.
