Please Help Kaitlin Fight Leukemia!

On January 14th, my daughter Kaitlin fell ill with what she thought was a respiratory virus. She ended up in the emergency room on February 16th and was told she has Leukemia. Kaitlin just finished Nursing School this past December to help save the lives of others. She was expecting to start her nursing career and never imagined she would be on the other side as a patient. On February 18th she was diagnosed through a bone marrow biopsy with AML or Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which is an invasive blood cancer.

By the time she received her diagnosis, her blood was infected with the cancer by 70%. She has experienced three types of aggressive chemotherapies in the hospital, as well as multiple blood and platelet transfusions. When she does get to go home, she will endure 3-5 months of inpatient chemotherapy at the hospital, but will be able to have a couple days at home every week. Kaitlin’s husbands medical insurance does not cover all the needed treatments and physician services under their plan. This has created a financial hardship for them being newly married and with only one income. Kaitlin has felt guilty about all the expenses and not being able to help her husband. They should be focusing on Kaitlin’s healing and treatments and not panicking over her insurmountable uninsured medical expenses that are piling up.

    

She will not be able to apply for work if all goes well until early 2024. It is unknown when Kaitlin will be going home now. She has had a potential major setback and the first round of chemotherapy may not have cleared all the cancer. I am praying for community support to help this young couple offset their accruing debt so they can focus on her treatments and healing. We appreciate your consideration.
