Please help Jades Dog Rescue NSW

We have many special needs dogs in care. Cooper is one who needs our help and your help too please!!!

I would like to introduce the gorgeous Cooper, a five year old male Bichon. He is mainly a happy dog who has realised that he loves other dogs, the dog park, other people and cuddling up to me. He is such a character and prances around with his little attitude. Everyone has fallen in love with this little brown eyed boy. He just wants to be a puppy.

Cooper was surrendered to us with the owners saying he was in good health, groomed every 4 weeks, but extremely anxious expressing odd behaviour by jumping up suddenly as though something had bitten him from behind.
They couldn’t deal with him anymore.

I took Cooper to the vet yesterday, he has allergies in his paws and skin ,so medication was given plus a new single protein of salmon meal.
An ear infection which medication was given.
His anal glands were full so had to be expressed.
He has tar built up and needs a dental.
Anti anxiety medication given for odd behaviour to calm him for the time being.
This alone is around $1200.

Moving forward Cooped needs further investigation as the prior owners said this screaming, jumping up behaviour has been happening since he got desexed….he is obviously in pain and we must help him so he can live a happy, healthy life.

These are the vets notes:

No physical abnormalities to explain this behaviour. His anus, perineum and scrotum all appear normal. This is supposedly a chronic issue that has been going on since desexing (2017). Julie also reports he is quite an anxious dog at home with separation anxiety, so there may be some behavioural triggers too. I have offered a pain relief trial, or bloodwork and radiographs to rule out obvious organ function or orthopaedic causes but I am unsure how rewarding these diagnostics will be as the issue is very non-specifIc and could be behavioural, neurological, related to physical pain (a range of internal and external possible causes) or related to itchiness and irritation from his skin issues.

At this time carer Julie is going to see how he responds to the topical steroids, ear medication and anti-anxiety medication we have started (I have provided a prescription for Fluoxetine), and will bring him in for the bloods, xrays and dental when appropriate.

As you can see this is going to us thousands and the prior owners will not contribute.
I’m putting it out there if you all can contribute anything you can so we can finally get the help that Cooper needs that hasnt been attended for the last 3 years.
We also have other dogs needing our help. Tinkerbell has mammary lumps and dental
disease, pebbles has dental disease, Gus has allergies and a cataract, Willow has a luxating patella which has been rectified with surgery but further medical treatment is needed.
our Desexing costs are huge!
Dental bills are huge!
We take in so many dogs with issues whose owners have neglected. Many dogs have problems which owners haven’t disclosed.
we are desperate for help as our adoption fees are not covering our expenses.

Thank you
