Hope for Glynn Scholle- Pay it Foward

We are still reeling from the news... In early January, Glynn Scholle, my beautiful, sweet, wife of  29 years, and exceptional mother, with four great kids, was struggling to get over what we thought was an infection stemming from a lingering cold. We had all got it over the holidays so we figured no big deal...

However, instead of receiving antibiotics from the doctor,  she was sent for scans and tests and to our horror was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer!

“Shock”  from this news is a gross understatement.  No, not Glynn! She wasn’t even symptomatic.

Now, already 9 months have passed... We are still trying to come come to terms with this tragedy.  Glynn is now, in a sense, in “hand- to- hand combat”, fighting for her life.  If you were to ask her, she would tell you how awesome she is doing, most days, I would agree.  Now, with the birth of our first grandchild  Livi just weeks ago, she has another real reason to live!

Her world as a caring teacher, supermom grandma, primary president, and world-class companion has been turned upside down. I can hardly speak when I think of the years of service and the enjoyment she has brought to those of us that have witnessed her incredibly gifted vocals and musical & performance ability.  She has brought joy and courage to so many with her countless hours of vocal coaching and accompaniments and has graced so many with a soothing balm of comfort in their times of need, all without fanfare or expectation.

You know Glynn. She is the one that is always there for people. The one that listens without judgment. The one who, by her life-long example, genuinely cares about others, (and even now), instinctively serves others without complaint or fanfare. She now is the one in need of a blessing.

Glynn is currently receiving aggressive chemotherapy treatments from Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. We are hoping she can knock it back and put the disease into remission. She has already done 19 treatments and we are hopeful.

However, with a stage 4 diagnosis, that has metastasized to her liver and lung, she is on a palliative care treatment plan. That means they are not treating her to cure the disease, but to make her comfortable. That means certain curative procedures are limited from Huntsman, so while she is currently receiving chemotherapy we are also seeking other options to rebuild her immune system and to fight off the disease. She is doing Alternative therapy at West Clinic in Pocatello, and Footzoning and other procedures to help her detox and find balance.

Glynn is a young 54. She has taken care of herself by eating well and avoiding vices. She is the last person you would have ever thought would receive this diagnosis. She is the poster child of someone that works hard and can “do hard things”, heck, she married me! Talk about a fixer-upper! True Grit.

Glynn believes she can beat this and I know she can.

She has so very much, much, much more to live for and to experience yet in this life. Like being there and raising our kids and future grandkids.

We are hoping to raise some funds to help pay for some of these alternative care options, and explore other therapies that are available, but not covered under our insurance. A Stage 4 diagnosis handcuffs many options potentially available even at the hospital. It is very frustrating.

We are eternally grateful for your prayers!. They work and the power of faith and hope is real.

Any donation of any amount I/We promise to pay it forward for the rest of our lives.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You and may our loving Heavenly Father Bless You throughout your life!
