Please Help Fernando and Yani

Fern was recently diagnosed with Stage 3b Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) Which is a cancer that attacks your immune system via your lymph nodes.
This all started when Fern felt a lump in his neck. An exploratory surgery with biopsy was performed to the lymph nodes and within a week Fernando was diagnosed with Lymphoma.
A few weeks after diagnosis and Fernando was able to meet with an oncologist for his treatment plan. The oncologist was honest with Fernando and told him and his wife Yani that aggressive chemo therapy treatments were required to cure Fern and save his life. With several months of chemo, (one week of treatment then three weeks off treatment then one week of treatment and so on), the oncologist feels that there is a 90% chance of Fernando becoming cancer free.
As of the end of October, he has been on aggressive treatment and due to the seriousness of the treatment and side effects he was put on FMLA from his job with no pay and no short term disability.
This has severely crippled Yani and Ferns household income. With their first grandchild on the way and their youngest son Christian in his senior year of high school, finances for Christmas are more than dismal and making ends meet to pay the bills are impossible.
Fernando’s treatment started as an inpatient for a week at the hospital. He endured a rigorous week of chemo treatments via a port that was surgically placed in him, and fared well that week. However, less than a few days after being released from the hospital the side effects of chemotherapy started to advance. Fern has become very weakened as also has a compromised immune system due to the extensive chemo.
Yani and Fern are both very proud people. I know they would never be able to write all this about what they are going through. I am writing this for them because they need help paying their bills until treatment is over and Fern can return to work. At this time they are starting to become behind on their bills because they have no way of paying everything without Fernando’s income. They applied for disability for Fern but it was denied due to Yani’s income. They plan to appeal this but the appeal process is long and their bills are due now.
I have to say that If you have ever met Yani or Fern or have been to their home they are the type of people that will welcome you with open arms and serve you a hot home cooked meal. They are just good, God loving people. I cannot think of two people that have worked harder to build a home together and raise their family and their marriage with their walk in faith and the Lord. It seems to be such an injustice that all of this is happening to their family. But they have such an incredible amount of faith in the Lord that we just know Fern will pull through this and be ok. And we know the Lord will speak to Fern through this experience.
At the beginning of 2018, Fernando’s insurance will have copays that will start again. Until the deductible copays are met, Yani and Fern will experience even more financial hardship.
