Please help Emma’s dream come true
Emma was born 3 month’s prematurely at 18 months old was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
She cannot stand or walk unaided and she is wheel chair bound.
Emma is a sweet 6 year old child and lives with her parents and little sister in London. She enjoys lights and sounds and loves Disney princesses.
Recently, Emma has become a candidate for SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhyzotomy) a surgery that will correct muscle spasticity by cutting the nerve in the spinal cord that is sending abnormal signals to the muscles. This surgery will be life-changing for Emma, it will allow her experience an independence that she has never had.
She will be able to get herself out of bed, go to the toilet, get dressed and walk with the help of a walker, but most importantly, it will help her feel like other 6 year old girls.
This pioneering surgery is not available on the NHS but is available in the United States. It is performed by the world leading surgeon Dr T S Park in at the St Louis Children’s Hospital.
With over 30 years experience, Dr Park is convinced that this surgery will be a complete success for Emma and his team have recommended that we undertake the surgery as soon as possible in order to improve Emma’s life experiences and to help her feel like an able-bodied little girl.
As Emma’s parents, this is beyond our wildest dreams and we would desperately like to bring Emma to the US for this surgery.
Please help us to make Emma’s dream come true.
