My dad underwent neck surgery Thursday July 20, 2017, to relieve pressure on his spinal cord. He was in rehab for a week and came home Thursday July 27th.
Over the following weekend, his pain increased and the pain medication was having no effect, so he returned to the doctor first thing Monday. A test confirmed he had contracted staph infection at the incision site. He underwent surgery a second time August 3 to clean the wound and prevent the infection from spreading. The doctor has prescibed a medication to treat the infection. Due to his medical history, he is currently on anti-rejection medication, and there is only one medication he is able to take that can treat the form of staph infection he has contracted without damaging his kidney.
Medicare will cover a portion of the medication, and his secondary insurance plan covers a small portion. The remaining out-of-pocket expenses we are looking at paying for the medication are $1,299 a week, and he has been prescribed a 6-8 week treatment. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
My dad has been in an out of the hospital since he was an infant. He's had countless surgeries, including removal of a portion of his lung and a kidney transplant. Through all of this, he has remained a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. My dad has committed his life fulltime to the ministry, and has chosen not to receive any income from it. In my life, I have seen my parents go through many hardships, they have always known that God would provide a way and He always has.
My father is one of the most loving and selfless people I know. He has a heart to serve others, and would do anything for anyone at anytime, just to show them how much God loves them. My parents have always shown us to turn everything over to God in prayer, have faith, and He will hear us. I believe that today, more now than I ever have. We are praying that God will provide the financial means to supply father with this medication. I have seen God use my dad to answer prayers of others, and God has used people to answer our prayers before.
We know that God can and will be glorfied in any situation. Please know that if you can help in anyway, you are allowing yourself to be used by God to answer our prayers.
