Please help Colson’s beautiful family

Colson’s seizures started just days after he turned 6 months old, after time in 3 different hospitals and lots of testing - RCH diagnosed him with Focal Epilepsy and Focal Cortical Dysplasia. The goal was to try and find a medication that slowed down or stopped the seizures, but the only way to cure it, was for brain surgery to remove part of his occipital lobe. Because the Dysplasia is located in the left occipital lobe it causes the focal seizures to the right, Colson will need to go through a very straining and large brain surgery to hopefully cure his epilepsy and seizures which means a lot of time away from family and loved ones because they live so far from Melbourne- 3hrs.

Colson went from hundreds of seizures a day to being seizure free for almost 5 months, but sadly Colsons seizures have returned which means surgery will be done sooner than anticipated.

After Colson’s surgery has been done they will be required to stay in Melbourne for some time during recovery, but it’s also expected that Colson will regress developmentally during his recovery and will need extra learning help from his physiotherapist, Speech Therapists and OT’s. His eye sight may also be affected depending on how much they remove from his Occipital Lobe.
