Please help Brian fight melanoma

Our friend Brian needs help battling a melanoma diagnosis.

Those of us living in or commuting through the streets of Franklin may recognize his face or may have even bought The Contributor newspaper from him. Brian Wolz has sold at the corners of Third and S Margin, First and Main and most recently at Bridge and Hillsboro.

And though he needs to work harder than ever right now he is unable to do so. Years in the sun have presented as Melanoma - a skin cancer than can be deadly if left untreated.

Brian has had surgery to remove some problem areas. But he needs more surgery and doctors have prescribed some very expensive topical treatments.

To combat these added and unforeseen expenses Brian has adjusted his selling schedule to a much earlier morning time to try to stay out of the sun.

He’s a hard worker and a very proud man. And if you ask him he will tell you that God had blessed him many times over - a good wife, a roof over his head, friends, and a variety of experiences.

For many years Brian was employed was an iron worker - a job that kept him out in all kinds of weather, including the bright sun.

As the years passed, age and health issues took their toll. He was no longer able to support his wife and their lifestyle. He did not despair. Brian would tell you that God placed The Contributor in his life at the right time. He became a vendor for the very popular street newspaper; often he was the top-selling vendor. He put his heart and soul into being the best he could be.

As I said, he is a proud man and would rather work to pay his own way than ask for help, so I am asking for him.

Please consider passing up a morning latte or lunch out or even pull a few dollars from your pocket change so this hard-working man can get the treatment he needs. Please don’t consider it a handout. Please look at it as an investment in our friend Brian. Thank you.
