Brent Possin Fundraiser

Local Farmer, Brent Possin, of New Richland, MN endured a life-altering medical emergency while on a winter getaway just outside of Cancun, Mexico. On the morning of the third day of the trip, it started as normal. His wife, Lianne and he went down for breakfast. That day was different. At breakfast Brent had a medical emergency that inevitably sent him into cardiac arrest. During this time, patrons of the restaurant went into action and were able to revive Brent multiple times to allow time for the EMT’s to come from the hospital, which was located 40 minutes away. This quick thinking subsequently saved his life.

Brent was brought by ambulance to the nearest hospital, where he went into “what we call” an intensive care unit. When arriving at the hospital, the family learned the uniqueness of an international hospital system. A required payment is needed before action. Payment to even look at Brent started in the tens of thousands of dollars that needed to be processed before any care. After being admitted, Brent has continued to be in their care with the same method in place. Any potential life-impacting procedure would need payment up front. Thankfully, the private hospital and staff are of high quality and provide excellent care.

After multiple tests and evaluations, it was determined that Brent’s emergency was due to a brain aneurysm or brain bleed, but he still needs further testing for confirmation. This will require care to relieve brain swelling and improve overall health for further tests.

At this point, we want to ask for assistance in helping eliminate another mind-bearing task for the Possin Family. The experience of being in an international country with your loved one in need of attention is something that nobody should have to endure. The dollar amount in question is rising every day. Urgency is needed to make sure funds are in place to not delay care. Totals are already over $100,000.
