Please help Blu to live

Blu is 12 weeks old and became unwell on Christmas Day. He had recently had his 2nd lot of needle's (21st December) and kennel cough nasal vaccination and was showing symptoms of this. The vet advised us it is normal for puppies to show signs of kennel cough between 5-7 days after having vaccination and he would be fine.

On 28th December we asked for an urgent consultation because he was getting worse and wasn't improving. The vet checked him over and completed blood tests on him. Our vet advised he was severely anaemic, had a really low temperature,he'd lost over a kilo in weight in a week, had rapid breathing, low blood count, signs of kidney failure, dehydrated and had some sort of infection. He was kept in and given IV antibiotics and fluids and hospitalised to continue his care overnight. We were advised his insurance wouldn't cover us because on 8th December on his first vet visit to be microchipped I mentioned to vet that he had been wretching due to chewing fluff from one of his pet toys. When we took him to vets on 28th we advised it was because we thought he had kennel cough as he was showing all the symptoms, not because he was 'wretching' but they have made the decision that is what it is to be recorded as. The vet advised us the insurance would be invalid because it was a pre existing condition before I activated his months free insurance.

We've agreed for him to be kept in our vets of a day to stay on IV antibiotics and fluids and he came back home last night and we had to administer fluids via a syringe because he was so unwell. The fees to keep him in vets of a daytime are £270 per day and night time hospitalisation is £450 a night. As we're not insured we couldn't commit to him being in day and night care and that's why we made the choice to care for his needs ourselves last night. We were delighted by the progress he had made this morning. He was eating and drinking (with help) and wasn't as lethargic as earlier.

At 9am today he was taken back to vets to continue his IV antibiotics and fluids. The vet advised his temperature had increased and he had put weight back on and his eyes were glossy showing improvement and said this is a really good sign.

Our world was shattered at 6pm when we went to collect him when the vet advised he was in kidney failure and needed to be admitted to the small animal hospital immediately. He'd shown improvement in everything, but his kidneys were failing.

We are currently at the cost of £1,900 with our vet and overnight care and we need to raise an additional £4,000 on top of this for him to be admitted to get the care he needs to fix his kidneys to help him survive. The vet advised he will need to be put down tomorrow if we are unable to raise half the fees for him to be admitted to the hospital. As it is a bank holiday weekend they are not open until Tuesday, he won't survive this.

Please, please can I ask if you can help us to save Blu? He is our daughters Christmas present and she is devastated. We lost our last puppy to heart failure 3 years ago and we really can't go through this again.

Please help to get Blu the treatment he needs. Any small amount will contribute towards us being able to save his life before they put him to sleep at the end of surgery tomorrow.
