Please help Ashley fight cancer

Ashley is an aspiring paleontologist, she is passionate about fossils, anything requiring a board, and enjoying each second of being alive. Early on in the year she became the caregiver for our children, and now, at the age of 27, she finds herself fighting to overcome her second battle with cancer in as many years. This time, it’s Diffuse B-cell lymphoma, the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which she was diagnosed with in July. (Previously, she was treated for thyroid cancer.) 

As many of you know, carving out a living in San Francisco is challenging for countless people. You can imagine how difficult it is while trying to afford treatment for a serious illness, even with coverage through the Affordable Care Act. 

Please help us provide her with financial stability so she can focus on caring for her health, rather than having to make choices every month between paying for life’s necessities or her co-pays and other out-of-pocket medical expenses.  

Good example? Recently, Ashley had to go to the hospital to be treated for internal bleeding - a trip that included a blood transfusion - a side effect from receiving cancer treatment. You can see how the costs mount quickly, even if you have insurance.

Ashley has approached her treatment stoically and without complaint, and frankly, she resisted our suggestion to start a GoFundMe, but as the months have gone on and the cancer has not responded as well to treatment as any of us would have liked, the toll on her health has grown, and it’s the right time to ask for some support so that working fewer hours is an option. 

We would deeply appreciate any amount you can afford to help Ashley during this life threatening period. She has worked hard to provide our kids with a loving and supportive environment, and now we want to insure she can financially afford the necessary care to reach remission.
