Please help a displaced Ukrainian family!

Greetings! You have seen the multitude of horrible images of the ongoing war in Ukraine. We are afraid that a lot of us have reached media fatigue. We get it, there are other international concerns, family, and work commitments that demand our time and attention. But we ask you, please, do not close your eyes. Ukraine may seem like a far-off place, but the events taking place there are having a profound ripple effect around the world. The way we react, the way the world reacts, and the actions taken by the UN, EU, and NATO, will determine the new world order.

 

As a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, millions of Ukrainians have been displaced from their homes and their country. European countries have generously welcomed millions of the refugees. Here in Yakima, we received approval under President Biden’s Uniting for Ukraine program to sponsor a displaced family of four, which includes Roman, Iryna, and their daughters, Liliya and Viktoriya. The family fled Ukraine with what they could carry, traveled across Europe, flew to Seattle, and arrived in Yakima at the end of June. Roman and Iryna want to provide for their family and have applied for work authorization; Liliya will continue her education at Yakima Valley College; and Viktoriya will attend La Salle High School.

 

Our immediate goal is to raise funds for college and high school tuition, a car, auto and medical insurance, and clothes. We are asking for your help during this transition period and any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
