Katie has lost her battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband Chris, her daughter Everly and son Leo.  Please help us raise money for Katie’s family during this extremely difficult time. 

Katie’s post is below.  

My plan was to keep this private, but at this point in time, I know there’s power in prayer. And I could use all the prayers I can get. 3 weeks after Leo was born, I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Long story short, a large cyst was found on my ovary during my c-section, and was sent to pathology for testing… and a few weeks later, I received the results that it was cancerous. The question then was where it started. Was it ovarian or colon? My entire world flipped upside down… as I thought about my kids, my family, my life. I kept looking at Chris with tear-filled eyes saying, “why me? Why now?” Thinking about things a 28 year old wouldn’t “normally” ever imagine. August 6, 2021, was the worst day of my entire life. Since then, I’ve had tests, scans, procedures, hospital visits, etc. I’ve been to the doctor more times in the past 2.5 months than I care to ever count. I started my first chemo treatment on August 16th. I had my last on September 27th, and was feeling hopeful that my upcoming CT scan would show remission. It didn’t. My heart was once again broken. Later that week, my doctor called me with some hope. MD Anderson in Houston, TX, is doing a clinical study on my specific condition. With a tumor in my colon, along with a gene mutation, she is hopeful that they will be able to give me the treatment that I need. So, tomorrow, November 2nd, Chris and I are headed to Houston for a few days to hopefully get some answers, and try again. I’ve spent a lot of time crying and praying over the last few months, but I’ve also spent a lot of time loving on my people and thinking positive. Thank you to those of you who have reached out, sent gifts, diapers and wipes, made/brought meals, babysat, sent flowers, prayed, and so much more. No words could ever express my gratitude for everyone’s kindness and generosity. Chris and I have seriously been blown away. I’m not letting my sickness break me. I will get through this. I have to. But in the mean time, I just need your prayers, please. My babies, my family, my friends, and I would really appreciate it
