Hello, friends of Plaza Tennis. John Simmet is ill with cancer. John and his wife, Juliet Tessicini, face a long and difficult road ahead and need our help.

All local tennis players miss having Plaza Tennis open – for stringing, tennis balls and rackets and John's usual low-key conversation. He is facing rounds of chemotherapy and won't be able to reopen the shop for a while. Please consider helping John and Juliet.

UPDATE:

We would like to express our enormous gratitude for the outpouring of support for this campaign. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed.

We realize today that we need to continue this fundraising campaign that was started only yesterday. This has been a fast-moving situation. John was only very recently diagnosed with Lymphoma and he is still in the hospital, undergoing different diagnostic tests and starting chemotherapy. We know now that the course and length of treatment will be longer and that this will have a greater impact than initially thought. It will likely be months before John is well enough to share his lovely presence with us at Plaza Tennis again.
