PICplays: Perform. Inform. Change.

Tax deductible

OUR GOAL

We are raising money to fund our 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization Actors Circle Ensemble (ACE). ACE seeks to provide an honorarium to a global ensemble of artists and experts with our New Works series "PIC Plays" open to the public over the course of June & July 2020. Each online event will weave live storytelling with professional actors coupled with presentations and Q&A by renowned guest speakers in their fields, to inform and inspire audiences.

Due to the recent pandemic, like many industries, theatre has been completely shuttered for large and small organizations. However, limitations spark innovation and we seek to bring the live communal activity of theatre online.

WHY SHOULD YOU HELP US TODAY

Artists are vital to the way issues are discussed in the public square.  Our current world is no different than the ancient Greeks who probed the human psyche.  And because theatre, film, and television have completely stalled, now, more than ever, we need storytelling to help us understand and discuss important and global issues at hand. To know we are not alone in this quarantined world.

In addition to providing live storytelling for avid theatre goers, this is also a wonderful opportunity to reach individuals, who may have not experienced the catharsis and exhilaration of live theatre in their lives.

SERIES I:

Each event will include: Three short original plays as well as a presentation and Q&A with a renowned guest speaker.

Any and all donations will help make an impact for our theatre community with attached artists from Japan, Puerto Rico, New York, London, and Los Angeles.  Guest lecturers include pre-eminent labor historian Erik Loomis, PhD , nationally recognized economist Robert Pollin, PhD , recipient of the MacArthur "genius" Award Deborah Meier.

We endeavor for this to be an opportunity not only to write compelling, impactful stories and present them, but to give creatives a chance to meet, collaborate and workshop their material without geographic barriers.

WHAT WE NEED

$8,000 will allow us to provide each artist (playwrights, actors, directors) and guest speakers with our goal of an honorarium for their services as well as funds for operations. All donations, which exceed our goal will help fund SERIES II: Immigration, Animal Conservation, Militarism, Domestic Violence, and Contemporary Theology.
