Playground 4 school in Puerto Rico!

Donation protected
Help us transform the play area of Public School Rosa Bernard, in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

We are a group of three 8th grade students from the Baldwin School of Puerto Rico, in Guaynabo, and our mission is to give back to the community in Puerto Rico, where hurricane Maria has greatly impacted many lives.

Elementary Public School Rosa Bernard is located in Rio Grande, PR, close to El Yunque tropical rainforest, and has a population of 250 children from Kinder to Grade 5.  Unlike many public schools from the metropolitan area, this elementary school has not received support from neighboring private schools, and therefore is still recovering from the aftermath of the hurricane.

The children of Rosa Bernard School need to play safely!

Elementary Public School Rosa Bernard has never had a playground for its children.  But today, their situation is worse: since a section of the school’s perimeter fence has been damaged by the hurricane, the youngest students must stay indoors during recess time, for safety reasons.

The power of play cannot be underestimated. A recreational area will provide a space that promotes the children’s social interaction and development of their motor skills, a space designed to meet children’s' needs and to help each child grow both mentally and physically.

What we will do

With your help, we will:

•Build a playground for the youngest students (ages 4 to 6)
•Repair the damaged sections of the perimeter fence
•Clean the cement floor and paint recreational motives to transform spaces into recreational areas for older students

The cost of these much needed improvements is $10,750.

How can you help

Please help us by making a donation. No amount is too small, every penny counts!

You can also help us by spreading the voice: sharing this campaign on Facebook is as powerful as donating money.

The children of Rosa Bernard school and their families will be forever grateful!
