Hello and welcome to the Planted by El GoFundMe!
My name is Eleanor. I am a 20 year old aspiring entrepreneur and lifelong gardener here in Dupont, Washington. I grew up surrounded by inspiring women opening up their own small businesses left and right, and I always wanted to be one of them. At the age of 18, I started a small coffee shop at my local High School in Anchorage, Alaska named Caffeinated Corgi. I loved learning about the process of starting my own business, and actually seeing it come to fruition. Two years have gone by, and after being laid off from my job in 2020, I have decided that now is the time to give my passion for entrepreneurship another shot.
I came up with the idea of “Planted by El” after spending last summer gardening with my parents at the DuPont Community Garden. I found a real sense of peace and joy in learning how to grow my own food for my family and two wonderful bunnies.
My husband, Riley, is my number one supporter, and he serves active duty in the United States Army. Since moving to Fort Lewis, I have found a wonderful group of local spouses who also have a love for gardening. Inspired by them, I have recently created a “Planted by El” Facebook group and Instagram to help diagnose plants. I also document my growth as a small business on this page, and it has become a great community to share gardening tips and tricks.
Gardening has contributed so much to my well being and sense of self worth. I would love to share this profound feeling with others by opening my stand at the DuPont Farmers Market this year.
I am going to be selling various herbs and succulents, as well as handmade totes, and recycled pots made from locally sourced glass bottles. All plants will be grown at my home here in Dupont, and everything I use will be sourced from other small business owners in Washington State.
This GoFundMe will provide me with the resources and funding that I need to assist in paying for start up fees, various necessary equipment, a graphic designer to create my logo, and a small business advisor who can assist me in making this shop possible.
I would greatly appreciate your donations to make “Planted by El” a reality. Each and every donor will receive a personalized thank you card as a token of my appreciation and gratitude.
