Hurricane Harvey hit us Aug 25th-28th 2017. We live one block from Addicks Dam. We DID NOT FLOOD however but did sustain damage to home.
I am seeing what insurance will/will not cover although we do not have flood insurance. Am also contacting FEMA & Disaster Assistance.gov.
33 inches of rain fell this area of dam, and this 'once in 40,000 year event' (weather people talk) has Houston underwater. Whatever you see on television it is WORSE than what is being shown.
I sincerely appreciate those American Motors fans & family who have helped out so far with paypal & also checks & money orders, I won't be ever to pay you back, but after 33 years in business, many of you know MY charitable donations from AMC meets: Star of Hope Houston homeless shelter; Red Cross; Catholic Charities & Salvation Army were recipients in past from AMC meets.
And I have for years, fed homeless veterans (against the law in Houston) under the I-10 bridges as these people have hit rock bottom & these men & women deserve better, so I write about them on facebook & my son has some videos of me helping these people. A good thing.
Regardless of that, I like being on the giving end, but Hurricane Harvey is worst storm (I have been thr over dozen hurricanes in Texas) I have ever seen. We dodged a bullet by not flooding but DO need some financial help getting back on feet.
