Our First Self-Produced Production

Donation protected
We are a group of 7 scrappy, current/recently alumnized students of Loyola University Chicago's Theatre program who, thanks to the Minnesota Fringe Festival, have the oppertunity to launch what is for all of us our first self-produced professional theatre production. We have ambition, talent, and a hilarious script written by our own Teddy Larsen... but we also have no money, so we're asking our family and friends for help.

Teddy wrote Plan B last fall, and we were fortunate enough to be able to workshop it last year at Loyola to great success. Now we have the even greater fortune of being able to give it a full fleged premiere at the Fringe in August. The play is crass yet smartly written and poignantly honest, making it the perfect challenge for our actors. (You can read a little about the play on the official show page.)

All of us aspire for careers in theatre & film, so this project has the potential to be a launching pad as we step out into the industry. Producing at the festival gives us the oppertunity to have our work presented to a vast and diverse audience, to network with an otherwise unaccessable community of professional theatre artists, and to receive reviews from professional critics. And for Ted, this could be a launching point for the play itself.

So here's where we need help. The Fringe organization makes producing at the festival very accessable, but it still requires us to self-fund. It's not an exorbitant undertaking, but for 7 kids in their early twenties, it's very difficult. We'll need at least $2000 to be able to mount the show. We could do more with more, but this will get us up and running. It accounts for production costs such as costumes, scenic materials, and props; it also includes stipends for essential help in the form of a stage manager and a set builder; rehearsal space is another factor, as are actor travel and accomodations, as 6 of the 7 of us currently live outside of the Twin Cities metro and need a means to get into town!

To reach our goal and be able to put up the play, we are hoping to get 200 donations of at least $10. We are hugely appreciative of support in any form.

THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for the encouragement and support you all have already given us.

We'll be posting our progress along the way, so stay tuned. Onward!
