WE HAVE TO RELOCATE
Pizza Aroma is a local family business that has been part of the Downtown Ithaca community for 25 years. We found out in September 2021 that our building was going to be condemned unless the necessary work was started. We were told the work would only be on the building exterior and that it wouldn’t affect our business. Up until a couple of weeks ago, we had received no communication on when the work would begin/end. After waiting six months for the construction to start and remodeling the inside ourselves, we were recently told that we have less than three months to vacate the property.
It’s very disappointing that in our 25th year on Cayuga & Green St., we would be dragged through months of impeded business due to the construction setup - only to find out we have to leave on short notice.
As we look for a new location and are receiving moving/build-out estimates, it's clear this move will put an unprecedented financial burden on our business. We have found potential new locations, some requiring an entire restaurant build-out. Due to limited time and funds, we're asking for your support, as this situation is a make or break for us.
Many of you have watched the Rosa Family dedicate their entire lives to Pizza Aroma. Mauricio and Dora arrived in the US seeking asylum from the Civil War in El Salvador in 1981. After decades of working day and night, they continue to work long, labor-intensive hours. We were hopeful that we'd return to some sense of normalcy after enduring the pandemic. This has now become the most uncertain and frightening time for us. We're not ready to close our doors forever. We will keep you updated on a closing date for our move in the coming months.
