Piromane Short Film

Donation protected
Piromane (a title deriving from the Italian word for pyromaniac) poses an essential question: What would you give for success? Or perhaps more aptly: what would you take from others? Our story focuses on the life of a young screenwriter, Frank, and his adoration of a Hollywood screenwriting prodigy, Karl. We dissect the highly pressurized environment of the entertainment industry, as well as the intense relationships that are common among young creatives. Ultimately, this is a story about artists and the boundaries they will toe, bend, and shatter for their craft.

This short film was written and directed by Kelli Converso, who is currently studying Film & TV Production at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. When curating her filmmaking team, a major goal of hers was to create a culture of inclusivity onset. She prioritizes collaboration with other female filmmakers; Piromane's assistant director, producer, and director of photography are all young women as well! She is excited to bring the sensibilities of female artistry into the worlds of satire and thriller with this project. In her words, "As I've been slowly expanding my body of work, I have found myself most drawn to stories with relationship dynamics that are inexplicable and historied, the types of richly layered connections that usher in deep personal change when encountered. Moreover, I'm interested in portraying these connections across genres, not just in drama or romance but in thriller, satire, horror, and action."

100% of the funds received are going towards production costs, including but not limited to gear rental, location fees, lunch for crew and talent, and prop acquisition. As a micro-budget production, we are keeping strict records to ensure all money is used responsibly and efficiently. The donor with the largest investment will receive an Executive Producer credit!
