Rooting Resilience: Pioneering Redwood Migration

Donation protected
Hello, I am Daniel Patton from Resilience Ecosystem Strategies (RES) LLC. At the forefront of ecological restoration innovation, we are on a mission to transform the way we respond to climate change. Our approach is grounded in citizen science, involving communities in our journey to adapt our forested watersheds to a changing climate.

The Challenge: Climate Change and Coastal Forest Resilience
As we confront the escalating impacts of climate change, our coastal forests stand on the brink of significant ecological shifts. These vital ecosystems, which serve as natural buffers against climate extremes, face unprecedented threats from rising temperatures, increased wildfire risks, and shifting precipitation patterns. The urgency to adapt and strengthen the resilience of these forests has never been greater. The challenge lies not only in protecting these areas but in proactively enhancing their ability to withstand and thrive amidst climatic changes. To address this, we turn to innovative solutions that can safeguard our forests and the myriad of services they provide.

Our Innovative Strategy: Pioneering Assisted Migration
In response to this pressing need, we propose a groundbreaking approach: assessing the feasibility of establishing coast redwoods and other climate-adapted species within Oregon's coastal basin. This initiative transcends traditional ecological restoration by integrating assisted migration—a strategic, cost-effective climate adaptation strategy—with techniques aimed at enhancing riparian buffer zones. Assisted migration offers a proactive method to relocate species to areas where they are expected to thrive under future climatic conditions, thus contributing to the overall resilience of forested watersheds.

By focusing on the coast redwood, known for its remarkable resilience, ecological benefits, and carbon storage potential, we aim to create a model for riparian buffer restoration that can serve as a blueprint for future conservation efforts. This project embodies a comprehensive approach to ecological stewardship, combining scientific research with practical restoration techniques.

Your support will enable us to develop and refine best practices for implementing assisted migration, paving the way for innovative strategies in response to climate change. Together, we can create a resilient, biodiverse future for Oregon's coastal forests, ensuring they continue to thrive for generations to come.

Your Impactful Contribution:
We're seeking $5,000 to expand this ground-breaking project. Your support enables us to:
  • Develop and manage this coast redwood migration pilot project.
  • Monitor ecological impacts and growth outcomes.
  • Empower citizen scientists through active involvement in research.
  • Implement restoration projects based on scientific study designs
  • Document and disseminate our findings, setting a precedent for future climate response strategies.

Rewards for Your Generosity:
As a token of our gratitude, we offer the following rewards:
  • $50: E-booklet of the Redwood Journey – A beautifully designed digital booklet with stunning visuals and insights into the redwood study when project is complete - estimated completion by March, 2025.
  • $100: Plant a Redwood in Your Honor – Have a coast redwood sapling planted with a tree tag inscribed with your name (unless you donate anonymously). You will receive a certificate with a picture of your tree once it is planted (Fall, 2024)
**You will be presented with a tailored deliverable by the specified timeframes, or your money back.

Join Our Citizen Science Movement:
Your donation is a powerful statement of support for citizen science, which seeks to foster ecological resilience in a changing climate. By joining us, you're not just supporting ecological restoration; you're fostering a community dedicated to building climate resilience.

Thank You!
Your contribution, large or small, is a vital part of our journey. Together, we can define what it means to build practical climate resilience and leave a lasting impact on our planet.
