Mary Leisses, is an educator, hearing healthcare provider and educator and survivor. The first word spoken to describe Mary from those that know her is friend. She truly cares about each person she meets. Despite adversity in her life she never stops giving to others. Now is a time for us to give a little back our friend.
A few years ago Mary was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. She fought the evil beast and after months of battle she beat it. During her recovery she stated fundraising to help other women who were also battling cancer. She founded Pink and Black WE FIGHT BACK and raised money by encouraging people to adopt a flamingo. One by one the flamingos started to arrive and migrated to her home in Minnesota. Soon a flock of hundreds arrived, some to remember loved ones lost to the disease, and others to stand as protectors of those battling it. Mary and her daughter work tirelessly and for flocked their yard one day each year. All the monies that were raised went to people and foundations to assist those in need. Mary's project made her cancer crusader, her work gave comfort to others that suffered.
Seven years after her initial diagnosis of cancer Mary received devastating news that cancer has returned. despite having health care coverage, there will be costs that will not be covered, days of missed work, and and needs will occur that will be taxing on anyone's budget. Mary has given so much and touched the lives of so many, I am asking that each one of us that know Mary take a moment to donate a few dollars to help relieve some of the financial stresses that are sure to occur.
