Pine Tree Circle Fire Relief

Several Avondale Elementary School families in the Avondale Forest apartment complex on Pine Tree Circle have been displaced by fire. Many lost everything except their pajamas. Principal Andrews was on the scene early. We are collecting school uniforms, shoes, coats, new socks and underwear and gift cards for Walmart, Target and other stores as well as cash via this GoFundMe. 

My name is Patti Ghezzi of Wynn Drive in Avondale Estates, Georgia, and I am head of Friends of Avondale Elementary School, a committee that serves at the pleasure of the Avondale Elementary School Education Foundation. I am working closely with PTA Co-President Stephanie Cain and Principal Dontae Andrews to make sure these funds go directly to families impacted by the fire. The school's counselor, Ms. Ross, will work with families to determine need. The funds will be used to help families recover from the loss of their home and possessions. For example, families may be granted funds for food, rent, utilities and clothing. 

These donations will be deposited in the Avondale Elementary School Education Fund bank account, which is managed by our treasurer, Calvin Williams. I will work with Calvin to transfer these funds. I will begin the process on Thursday, Jan. 4 and continue to transfer funds as they come in until we determine the family's needs have been met and shut down the GoFundMe. Calvin will work with Ms. Ross to provide assistance to families in the form of gift cards, cash or payment directly to landlords or utility companies.
