Mabuhay!

USC Troy Philippines is a student-led organization that seeks to provide its members with an open space that fosters personal growth, self-discovery, and cultural celebration. It addresses the needs of the Pilipinx American community at USC and the greater Los Angeles area. Since 1970, Troy Philippines has been committed to addressing the five key aspects of Filipino life: cultural, social, political, academic, and community. Today, Troy Philippines also serves as a family away from home and a bridge to our cultural roots.

At Pilipinx American Culture Night (PACN), we celebrate our cultural heritage and the regional diversity of the Philippines through cultural dances, songs, and a skit representative of the Fil Am experience.

This year, PACN is showcasing a two-act play about Teresa Nuñez, an aspiring singer, who finds a magic mirror that transports her to late 1800's Philippines. She will travel through centuries of Pilipinx culture and along the way, discover herself and her family's past. The scenes and performances are meant to engage conversation and cultural awareness within the community, speaking on the themes of generational trauma, the myth of the American Dream, and exploration of grief and regret. The night will be accompanied by traditional and modern Filipino choreographies and song performances.

PACN provides multiple opportunities for members to reconnect with their roots and connect with other students. Members are able to collaborate, learn more about Pilipinx culture, and showcase their talents. By learning about our roots, we gain opportunities to deepen our connections with our loved ones.

Ultimately, the event fosters personal and professional growth and bestows performers, planners, and audience members alike a profound exploration of Pilipinx culture.

To continue our tradition of hosting Pilipinx American Culture Night at USC, we are seeking your generous support. Your generosity will help us portray a faithful representation of Pilipinx culture and aid in logistical challenges associated with the event. Troy Philippines is hoping to raise $5000 via gofundme donations.  Any funds that do not go toward securing the venue will be used to obtain materials for the event's set pieces and cultural wear to make the play authentically come alive.

Thank you so much for your time and generosity! Salamat po!
