Pike High School VEX Robotics World Championship!

Donation protected
The Pike High School VEX Robotics Team team has qualified for the World Championship in Dallas for the first time in Pike High School’s history!! The World Championship takes place from May 5 to May 7th. The competition is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our students that will enable them to meet other young engineers and showcase their game strategy, engineering design, coding, communication, and teamwork skills. Our students amaze us every day with their passion, motivation, creativity, and communication skills; they have truly earned the honor of qualifying for this prestigious event, and we want to do everything possible to ensure they're able to compete in Dallas!

We are raising funds to cover travel costs to the World Competition. The VEX Robotics Club at Pike High School meets throughout the year after school. It is a student-led group that helps students develop engineering, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. The students spend months building a robot that meets the requirements for a particular challenge, and the challenge changes every year. The challenge involves moving mobile goals to platforms and balancing the platform this year. The students plan, build, code, and troubleshoot before driving their robot in the competition.

Our students have participated in several competitions this year. During the course of those competitions, they have received several awards and been recognized by coaches of other teams. These awards include: 2 sportsmanship awards, 2 judges award, an inspire award, and an award for 3rd place in skills.

This club helps students feel more connected to our school and helps them develop real-world skills. Many of our students are planning to go into engineering fields, and this club has provided unique opportunities and educational experiences for them.

Pike High School is on the Northwest side of Indianapolis and is an incredibly diverse school. 59.3% of students are black, 25.9% are Hispanic, and 4.8% are multiracial.  Our students represent a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.

The cost of attending the championship is estimated to be approximately $23,000. Although we have been successful in raising some funds already, we are still in need of funds to cover transportation for students and chaperones, hotel rooms, registration, and meals. If we can save money on flights and hotels, any excess funds that are not used towards funding the trip will be used to purchase parts and register for competitions the following year.

Any financial support you could provide will enable our students to participate in this incredible learning experience. Thank you for your time and support.
