❄ SUPPORT MY JOURNEY TO JOIN ROB SWAN O.B.E ON HIS ANTARCTIC ❄
EXPEDITION TO CREATE THE NEXT GENERATION OF SUSTAINABLE LEADERS!

I have been selected to join Robert Swan O.B.E on his Expedition to Antarctica❗❗
Can you believe it...

The expedition is led by the world-renowned explorer and environmentalist Robert Swan O.B.E, the first person to walk to both poles, Barney Swan, the first to walk to the South Pole purely on renewables and Jeff Bonaldi, CEO of Explorers Passage. The 2041 foundation and the carbon neutral 2041 ClimateForce Expedition’s goal is to engage and inspire the next generation of sustainable leaders to help the planet by preserving the last untouched continent, Antarctica. I will become an Antarctic Ambassador!

MY STORY SO FAR...

My name is Piers Mulvey.

▶       I spent my childhood summers in the lake district and have since always enjoyed the outdoors whether it’s hiking, windsurfing, or biking. I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively for my age and experiencing different cultures and countries is something that will never be lost on me and has enabled me to appreciate the scale and beauty of the world. However, after graduating from the University of Bath in 2021, I, like many others who finished formal education, have felt bereft of direction and meaning.

▶       Yet what I was witnessing was nothing like the world I’d remembered. Half my family are Canadian, and wildfires have always been a part of the Canadian experience, but year on year the blanket of smoke covering British Colombia has become thicker and thicker. Whilst sitting on social media I’ve watched both my family and friends from polar (no pun intended) opposite sides of the earth evacuate their homes due to wildfires and I felt completely hopeless and frustrated. Clearly watching social media doesn’t correlate to action.

▶       I first encountered Rob Swan in the form of a presentation about leadership in adverse conditions, it was truly awakening. I learnt of his ambitious 50-year objective to save Antarctica before the year 2041 which had been set by Jacques Cousteau. An audacious and overwhelming goal, but after listening to Rob explain what he achieved through leadership, organisation, strength of character I knew we had a chance. With Rob at the helm of this ship, I know that actionable solutions CAN create tangible change, and I’m going to help him do it.

▶       So, I applied for this expedition with optimism. By engaging world leaders and large corporations, the threshold for change widens. Gaining the following of young people will create the next generation of ethical policy leaders and sustainable businesses. This will be a meaningful undertaking and it all starts with Antarctica.

Enough about me. So, what’s all this then…? WHATS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT 2041?

I believe that we all share responsibility for the one last untouched place on earth: Antarctica. As it turns out… we all do!

The Antarctic Treaty was signed December 1st, 1959 and it ensures that Antarctica is not owned by any one nation one person. Therefore, no exploitation of its resources is allowed under the Environmental Protocol, and it is our responsibility to ensure it stays that way.
"People a thousand of years from today will be so proud of us if we just leave one untouched place on this Earth for the sake of science and peace." - Robert Swan

THE 2041 CLIMATEFORCE EXPEDITION

The 'Leadership On The Edge' (LOTE) Program consists of a unique blend of interactive workshops, up-to-date climate science training, and sustainable development education to curate my personal leadership skills. I will join an international alumni of 2041 ambassadors committed to creating actionable solutions.

The LOTE Program has been tested and refined on over 30 expeditions and consists of a blend of strategic leadership development and connected learning centered around sustainability, climate change, and renewable energy solutions. NASA, JP Morgan, Cisco and Accenture have all sponsored representatives to take part of this unique program!

The 2041 foundation was founded by Rob Swan O.B.E: polar explorer, environmentalist, motivational speaker and the first person to walk to both the north and south poles. This should put things into perspective…

I have thought about this carefully, why go to Antarctica to do this?
I will be learning first-hand about this fragile continent’s ecosystems and how it’s under attack from climate change. The LOTE will give me the skills to create actionable change after becoming an Antarctic Ambassador to help save the continent and hopefully inspire others to do the same! The entire expedition is carbon negative, taking 1.25x the C02 impact of the expedition through 5 environmental projects, such as tomorrows air. 2041 has set up their own sustainable guidelines:

HOW TO CONVERT THIS TO ACTION...

▶       Firstly, I plan to raise part of the budget I require (see below!) through corporate funding. Part of this plan will be to understand sustainable practices and processes that can be applied and then implement them into businesses.

▶       After becoming a mascot for 2041, I will raise awareness for the urgency to preserve Antarctica using social media and through organised events. I will share my first hand experience of climate change and communicate all I have learnt about leadership to achieve action.

▶       After travelling with the Explorers Passage, I will gain insight into how they have implemented sustainable travel policies and how the right investment can lead to viable travel solutions and cleaner air. I will promote investment and the practical solutions for renewable energy to reduce the incentive of exploiting Antarctica!

BUDGETS...

I will hope to raise £5000 through Crowdfunding, which will cover part of the expedition cost [fingers crossed]. By helping me exceed the target I will be able to inspire others and join Rob Swan on a life changing expedition!

REWARDS ESPECIALLY FOR YOU

Follow me on my journey on either INSTAGRAM ✅ or FACEBOOK ✅

I am not at all used to or comfortable asking people I know for donations but raising the funds myself is a requirement for this leadership programme and is part of the journey. I am VERY grateful for any contribution you can make.
THANK YOU so much for your support. It will not be taken for granted.
I could never do this without people like YOU. ❤
