Pierce County ESAR Funding and Headquarters

In light of Giving Tuesday next week, we kindly request your support. We are a fully volunteer-based non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives. We are seeking assistance to enhance our operational readiness and obtain a Headquarters Station.

We are proud to have nearly 200 highly-trained volunteers who selflessly dedicate their time to helping others around the clock, every day of the year. They utilize their own equipment and vehicles to respond to nearly 50 missions annually. Last year alone, they spent 701 hours in the field conducting search operations and spent 13,803 miles driving to and from the missions. By generously volunteering their time, they saved taxpayers over $40,000 in 2022 alone. Additionally, our volunteers invest countless hours in training, maintaining rescue equipment, recruitment, and other essential tasks.

We are currently engaged in efforts to secure operational funding for and funding for the acquisition (or donation) of a headquarters station. Depending on the amount of funds raised, our aim is to acquire a former Fire Station or construct a dedicated building for our organization.

The Headquarters Station will serve as a central hub for our operations, providing storage space for our vehicles and spare search and rescue equipment. It will also serve as a venue for conducting training sessions and hosting public educational programs. Unfortunately, we experienced a theft earlier this year, which resulted in the loss of valuable equipment. By having a secure building rather than an exposed parking lot, we will be able to ensure the safety and peace of mind for storing our equipment.

Funds that are not designated for the construction or acquisition of a Headquarters Station will be allocated towards ensuring operational readiness.
