In April of 2012 Maria B. Zarate (better known as Pia) was diagnosed with 3rd/4th stage Ovarian cancer. Pia was told that she would have three months to live. She defied those odds. She was a fighter, a light and love to the many people in her life.
Pia passed away on December 19th, 2017 and is survived by her husband Manuel Zarate, her parents Jorge and Martha Aguayo and her brothers Damian and Jorge Aguayo.
Pia was a truly beautiful human being that brought people together and continually treated each day as a blessing. She would say, " I have cancer. Cancer does not have me."
