We are raising funds to help us create a safe and comfortable environment at home for our daughter, Phoebe Rose who is 9 years old.
Phoebe has a life-limiting congentital condition Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia which needs specialist equipment and constant care. Her physical disabilities are profound, so she will never be able to meet even the most basic needs for herself. Her future is uncertain; we are prepared for her symptoms to worsen as she grows and have been told that her life expectancy is unlikely to reach into adulthood.
Yet despite all Phoebe has already dealt with and continues to face, she remains a happy and positive child. Her sunny smile and infectious giggles (often at the most unexpected things!) never fail to delight everyone who meets or knows her. Our family and close friends surround her with love and are all determined that whatever time she has is as comfortable and joyful as possible.
As Phoebe grows we are now having to make radical changes to our home so that we can continue to provide for her needs. A ground floor bedroom and living space along with a wet room, all with wheelchair access and equipped with specialised lifting and handling facilities, are built. In addition to that we are having to fund the costs of specialist equipment (such as additions to her wheelchair), which cost a signficant amount of money.
Just over half of the cost is met from the local authority grant, leaving us to finance the balance of around £25,000. Any help that you can give towards this will not only secure Phoebes well-being but also enable us to balance her needs with this of her sisters Bethany (13), Poppy (5) & Lucy (19).
