Philly Friends In Need

Donazione protetta
Two of my best friends in Philadelphia are both COVID positive. I met them while working as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America, VISTA.

One worked in the Office of Homeless Services in the Managing Director’s Office in Philadelphia, and the other worked for the Advocacy Insititute education youth on substance use disorders. Both paid for them paid their way through college as first-generation students.

After the year of service in January, they successfully worked for the government and nonprofit sectors. But once the pandemic hit, they were laid off. Funding was dried up. They had to pivot, and they took available jobs.

They got a car and started delivering pizzas to make ends meet. Sadly, they both got diagnosed with COVID and are no longer able to work in person. They are scrambling to find jobs online, but in the meantime, they have to pay rent, car payments, medical bills, and food.
They are hoping to go back to work once COVID negative, as they don't want to be on unemployment but need some help to support them through this terrible virus.

They aspire to go back to work in the nonprofit or government sector. These are generally good people that routinely care for others. Now I am asking for people to help them.

If you can spare $5, $10, $50, $100.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact me directly. This is a tough time for them. That is why I am not using their names.

Thank you much in advance for your consideration and help.

Those who are getting hit the hardest are Black American and Latinx communities, many of whom work in the service industry. Two of my best friends in Philadelphia are part of these disparities. Anything is appreciated.
