                                                 HELP A HERO!

Phillip Bell, a firefighter with the Opelika Fire Department, is about to begin four cycles of chemotherapy. In March 2016, Bell (we call him Fry at the firehouse) 27, was diagnosed with cancer (Seminoma). He immediately underwent surgery and started monthly blood screenings. Last month, after routine lab results returned unusually high indicators, Doctors discovered cancer cells in Phillip's lymph glands. Fry is a tough young man, and he has zero interest in a pity-party. This is a guy who has served his country and his local community with consistency, dedication, and discipline. He has been with OFD since 2008, and he has also served six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He is a life-long resident of Lee County; his family has lived in Beauregard for several generations. The coming months are going to be a challenge for Phillip as he receives chemotherapy. He quit his second fulltime construction job in order to have sufficient rest time when he is not on shift at the station. Firefighters 4 Life, a local non-profit organization, is raising money to help him. You can order a t-shirt from the Opelika Fire Department headquarters or donate directly here. Additionally, you can visit any Auburn Bank branch and deposit a donation into the Firefighters 4 Life account, marked for Phillip (Fry) Bell. Please help him in his fight!
