Philip’s Heart Transplant Journey

Hello everyone. As many of you may or may not know, my father, Philip Bongato, has had many health complications within the past year. A simple trip to the doctor to treat his body aches and pain turned into him going into cardiac arrest not once but twice within the span of days in mid-July 2017. We were faced with what we thought was it for my dad but instead saw a light at the end of the tunnel. My father was given a second chance at life when the opportunity to implant a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) was presented. He had an LVAD implanted on August 8, 2017. He has gotten all his strength back and has been doing wonderful since! It’s been about 6 months since life with the LVAD began and just yesterday, January 26, 2018, doctors notified us with the exciting news that they found my dad a new heart through a donor! He was admitted to California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco yesterday and underwent surgery in the evening. My father has been and will be unable to work therefore I’ve put together this GoFundMe page to help with the cost of my dad’s medical expenses and to relieve some of the financial stress off my mother and the rest of my family. Any help from anyone will be generously appreciated from us all. We are all praying for a speedy recovery for my dad and continuing to count all the blessings coming our way.
