Some of you may know my friend of 20 years Phil Kaplan. Most in the industry would refer to him as the Father of Personal Training. 35 years ago he began the trend and dedicated his career to elevating the profession of personal training through his health clubs, speaking, books, seminars, his radio show, nutrition company and by example.
About 13 years ago he didn't know it, however after hurricane Wilma, mold began to grow in the walls of his home, health club and office. He developed toxicities and severe multiple chemical sensitivities. Over the past 13 years he has been on a journey spending over 1M to get well and no doctor has helped him.
His condition has worsened from being misdiagnosed with Parkinson’s to having lesions on his brain, being told he needed a liver transplant, his gallbladder removed and most recently both retinas, completely and unexplainable detached a few months apart from each other currently leaving him blind in both eyes (which we hope is temporary). There are honestly too medical incidents to begin to explain.
As you can imagine he has not been able to function at a high level professionally. He has moved 17 times in search of homes in Florida without high levels of mold and his medical bills are overwhelming.
Phil does have shared custody of his 13-year-old daughter Brooke who he has an amazing will to live for. He has an insatiable desire to continue to contribute to the fitness industry and also to help others who battle environmental illness and other disease.
At this time 100,000 would clear up his current medical bills. Any amount would be appreciated. Phil has given much and many fitness pro's owe the success of their careers in part to his guidance. Tens of thousands of people all over the world owe their transformations to Phil.
If you find it in your heart to donate, Phil would be forever grateful. It's a sign of courage, not weakness to ask for help. As you can imagine, Phil has to be at the absolutely most humbled position to agree to ask for and accept your giving.
