A marathon in memory

Tax deductible

So, it is my first time doing anything like this so please be kind...

Last week (18.7.21) my dad; Martin Paul Sugg passed away aged 60. Some of you may have met my dad, but most won't. To give you a bit of background information behind all of this, my dad lived with a brain injury which he sustained in 2005, unfortunately his condition worsened over the last few months and he passed away. Grief is a complex and personal thing, and personally I feel like setting myself a challenge as a personal salute to my father will allow me the chance to say a proper goodbye. For reasons I will not go into here, I have not had a relationship with my dad for many years. So...... I have decided to run a marathon in memory of my dad Martin. I am giving myself just over three weeks to train, and will be running a solo marathon here in Cornwall on Saturday 14th August. The route will start in Bodmin and follow the Camel Trail to Padstow, then down towards Newquay. I am not really an avid runner, but those that know me will testify that when I do something, I go in 100%! Please be assured that I will give this my all and sweat buckets! I will be posting more information about the route in days to come, and will also be uploading training videos and photos/videos from the big day. The only situation stopping this going ahead on the 14th will be the funeral itself, as we do not have the death certificate through yet, we cannot plan for a funeral date. If this does clash then I will simply go the following week!

I'm raising money to benefit The Brain Charity: The Brain Charity supports people with neurological conditions to live longer, healthier, more active lives. They offer emotional support, practical help and social activities to anyone with any neurological condition and to their family, friends and carers. Please feel free to have a look at their site in more detail here: https://www.thebraincharity.org.uk/
