Cambrees brain cancer donation fund

This is our precious Cambree. She was recently admitted into ICU with severe headaches from a brain tumor that has now been diagnosed as cancer.

Cambree was in the hospital for 5 days while waiting for brain surgery. The waiting game is over and she’s now undergone brain surgery, of which we’re happy to report went very well. However, her post surgery recovery has required further hospital stays, including a week in ICU after the surgery followed by another week in a standard hospital room for observation and further testing.

Cambree was extremely strong to have pulled through her surgery and is continuing her recovery at home. However, since bringing her home, she has already had to make two trips back to the hospital for minor surgeries to address swelling in her head. Unfortunately, several more trips are likely on the horizon for us all before she has fully recovered... that's the good news!

The bad news: even though the surgery went well, several cancer cells still remain attached to her brainstem and Cambree will be starting radiation treatments several times per week for six weeks. Due to the nature of this cancer, it is crucial to treat aggressively from the start.

As her grandmother, I can attest that it goes without saying this has had quite an impact on our entire family, friends and support network. We are staying positive but I can't imagine anything worse than waiting to see what will happen next.

While we all are doing everything humanly possible to help our dear Cambree overcome brain cancer, the harsh reality of the financial impact is overwhelming and difficult to comprehend. The medical costs are piling up and are well into six figures, and we haven't even begun her cancer treatments or included the cost of her medications. My son-in-law has missed and will continue missing a great deal of work so they can be together as a family through this trying time. His company has been extremely helpful and understanding of our situation but as hard as it is to say, this will be catastrophic to them without help.

It pains us to have to ask for help, but we face no other options. It remains to be seen what the full cost of diagnosis, brain surgery, radiation treatments, medications and recovery will be, but we have set an initial goal of raising $75,000 to help offset many of Cambree’s medial costs. We know reaching our fundraising goal won't be enough to cover everything, however, we’re extremely appreciative for any and all of the support we do receive...everything helps! As the full financial picture comes into focus, we are likely to adjust our goal.
