Pete’s pancreatic fight.

At the young age of 40, my good friend Pete was diagnosed, just before Christmas, with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer with metastasis to his liver.  This most aggressive cancer is being met by Pete and his doctors with an equally aggressive approach, as his port insertion and first round of treatment already begins next week.  Pete has decided to face this challenge head on, and I’ve decided to ask each of you to help him.

Many of you reading this probably know Pete from surfing Brevard’s southern coastline, fishing the Sebastian Inlet, or just sitting around a bonfire somewhere in the South Beaches.  His quality carpentry and handy work can be seen in countless homes and buildings in the 32951.  

Our community is coming together quickly after hearing of Pete’s diagnosis to help wrangle our resources to guarantee our friend access to the best care available.  Caught without insurance, we are asking everyone we know, and many more that we don’t, to help support Pete in his fight.  I’ve noticed in recent years our community has grown exponentially, which is of no surprise given our sense of community, friendship, environment and that beachside attitude.  This is an excellent opportunity for our neighbors and friends who don’t know Pete, but could be his neighbor, or have stood in line next to him at the grocery store, to contribute to this cause.  Frankly, we need you.  We can’t do this alone.  Im asking each one of you who have taken the time to read this to please find a way to contribute, and find a way to spread word of our cause to others who may also be able to help.
