Meningoencephalitis Seizure Treatment for Ginger

Donation protected
Hi Friends and fellow fur mom's and dad's,

We adopted this lil baby 4 weeks ago. She's 12 weeks old and we didn't know to get insurance lined up due to a 14 day waiting period .

We'd only had her a week when seizures started nearly every two hours. We paid $700 out of pocket for blood and exams as well as anti-seizure, anti-inflammatory and stomach protectant medicine as well as CBD oil.

The full story;
I had never experienced this before so I didn't know what it was at first.

Ginger is 12 weeks old, Thursday night I thought she had been getting sick due to something she ate or otherwise so we went to bed. I noticed a few more wet spots of clear slimy drool on the furniture Friday morning and thought she still had an upset stomach.

Friday break in the morning I was snuggling her and noticed she started to twitch. She started stiffening up and her cheeks were twitching back. Once I realized it was a seizure a friend called the vet. The vet said to monitor her for changes and record the seizure/s so they could see what was happening. From 11am-6 pm she had 4 seizures, every two hours for about 1 minute each. Lesson # 1 go to to the vet immediately.

The last 5th one was four minutes and the scariest for all of us and most of all, Ginger. Each time she lost control of her bowels and bladder and woke up confused and scared. This time she ran in flight. She ran into walls and jumped like she was trying to escape. Lesson # two - keep her contained and safe even if we have to hold her down. We put her in a bath to help her cool down and clean up and her tiny body was so exhausted all she could do was moan and rest her head in my hand.

Off to the vet for bloodwork and diagnoses. Vet said all looked normal but suspected toxicity or head trauma. We know she eats everything and plays rough with our big dog but never thought she'd get injured from that play without physical appearance of an injury. There was no yelp or cowering in their wrestles. The vet medicated her with anti seizure meds and anti inflammatory for her brain, her blood tested fine as no obvious signs of poison or other issues.

They sent us home and advised we monitor for more seizures and if so, give another half tablet up to 4 half's per day. She seized 5 times more by the time 9:30 came. We talked about alternatives and called the emergency vet. They told us to diagnose and get a full prognosis it'd  a hospital stay, a CT scan, spinal tap and rounds and rounds of blood work and medication. Lesson # 3 pet health insurance ‍♀️. Since we don't have, we're forced to watch and wait and hope she comes out of it.

We started looking for alternative therapies and decided on CBD oil as an alternative. She has now been nearly 24 hours without a seizure! Lesson # 4. Don't ever lose hope.
Lesson # 5 let your friends help you. Lesson # 6 Let your friends pray for you. Lesson #7 age is just a number but because she's a baby doesn't mean she'll bounce back.

Update: We had 4 days seizure free and they started again. She's now had 7 more seizures in addition to the first 20 and we're out of options. We're starting another medication but that's all we can do without an actual diagnosis.

We can't get coverage for pre-existing conditions and can't give up without a fighting chance at diagnosis so we're forced to raise money here for the scan, stay and hopefully enough for followup.

Thank you for reading and I appreciate any help you are able to provide
