Perry's Sub-10 Hr Ironman for Conviction Group

Hi Everyone,

At 18, I was unfortunate enough to lose a close friend. The impact that had on the community was enormous and as a young man, whilst I had a good support network, I know that I didn't necessarily know how to cope with how I felt, nor did I have all the tools to do so.

Many stats in Australia and across the world show that suicide is the leading cause of death among men aged 15-44 and that over 75% of mental health problems occur before the age of 25.

So I've decided to keep true to a promise I made that friend (and honour the others that we have lost during the pandemic period and beyond), and combine it with a group that can make a real difference: Conviction Group.

Conviction Group delivers educational programs to young people encouraging them to re-evaluate their perspectives on the pivotal issues concerning their health and provide them with the relevant tools to improve decision-making. ​

CG has delivered programs to over 10,000 young Australians. Whether it be via school presentations, annual forums or the mentoring programs they provide. Despite the odds, the team are doing their best to achieve our collective goal of encouraging a generation of empowered young men capable of taking responsibility for their personal health.

To help support Conviction Group, on Sunday the 4th of December I’m aiming to complete the Ironman Western Australia in under 10 hours. This means swimming 3.8km in 1:10 hours (1:51 mins/100m), cycling 180km in 5 hours (36km/h) and running a 42.2km Marathon in 3:40 hours (5:13 mins/km) with 10 mins to spare for transitions. Conviction Group and I would love your support in helping me raise funds for the organisation.
