My name is Sam Weaver and I'm a friend of the Penry family. I am reproducing below an email from John Penry detailing a devastating fire that burnt down their house, garage, and all their property on March 16, 2018. It is difficult to know how best to help, especially across an ocean. This GoFundMe account is one way we can show the Penrys our support. Please consider donating to help the Penry family have some extra financial security during this time.
Please do not share this on your social media, we would like to keep things relatively private for the Penry family. Feel free, however, to share with friends and family that know the Penrys and may want to help. From John: "As many of you would have seen, either on the news, or via the increasing posts on social media, SW Victoria has been hit by many bushfires this weekend and one of them was in Gnotuk where our family home and property is. Cutting a long story short, Kym and the kids had to do a very rushed evacuation form the house around 10pm last night. Only a few minutes later the house, garage and office all were burnt to the ground. The important thing is that all the family is fine physically although, as you can imagine, everyone if traumatised.
Our family is in unchartered waters at present but we are being assisted by some wonderful Camperdown families at present.
Please keep the Penry family in your thought and say a prayer for the CFA crews fighting the continuing fires in the SW today."
