Penny's Surgery
Donation protected
Penny has a humeral condylar fracture. She is 4 months old and cannot bear any weight on her right leg. I took Penny in with her injury because her previous owner could not afford her care, well neither could we, but I couldn't stand by, seeing her suffering, and not do anything about it.
Today (2/3/15), Penny recieved her surgery at Northstar Vet Hospital in Robbinsville, NJ. It took 3 hours, 5 screws, and a washer to fix her leg. She is in a full leg splint and still at the hospital. The vet said because the injury was not properly treated in a timely manner (out of my hands- again I acquired her after her injury) the scar tissue was extensive and it was very hard to manipulate the bones into place.
Penny has a long road to recovery, hopefully without any complications. Her vet bills are extensive (estimate was $2,600- $3,900), plus post op visits and any procedures she might need throughout her life since she is a growing puppy.
Thanks to the folks at CareCredit I was able to get Penny the treatment that she needed ASAP.
If you can donate to Penny's care or at least share her story with your family and friends I would truly appreciate it. She is a sweet girl and deserves a second chance.
I will be posting Penny updates and pictures : )
Also, any unused funds raised for Penny's care, I pledge to donate to the Burlington County Animal Shelter to help other animals in need just like Penny.
Thank you for reading Penny's story.
Penny's original surgery estimate from 2/2/15. That's without any post op visits and the initial orthopedic consult which was $523.
