Penelope's road to recovery

Donation protected
As most of you know Penelope, my one year old maltipoo, broke her arm at daycare on NYE 12/31/15. I used this app called Rover bc I had heard good things about it but it was the worst thing I could do. I didn't feel too good about it but I'm new to LA and didn't know where else to take her that was reasonably priced. The sitter told me that "she woke up with a broken arm" and couldn't tell me what happened. The sitter told me that she was overbooked when I picked her up and pene greeted me hopping on three legs. I immediately knew it was broken and rushed her to the vet. 4 hours later she had X-rays and a splint and we could finally go home. This was the start of a long journey filled with sedation medicine, sleepy days, and a tremendous amount of anxiety for both of us. Pene is the kind of dog that needs to be walked everyday and at least go to the dog park 3 times a week. She hasn't been able to release any of her mental or physical energy for 2 months. To top it all off I thought yesterday (2/22/16) was going to be the day she finally got her splint off and that her arm was healed! I spoke too soon. The bone healed, yes, but her arm skin is infected all the way to her shoulder with bruising and hair loss and many other sores, loss of nails, etc... I don't feel like the vet I found was keeping her clean and oossobl enhanced the situation. They never cleaned her ears, face, butt, etc. I took her to a second opinion yesterday to the ER I first took her. They gave me some ointment and antibiotics and pain meds to once again-dope her up. The vet said that if she doesn't put weight on her arm and the medicine doesn't help I will be looking at amputating her leg. My heart is so broken for her and vet bills are through the roof. I know I make fun of these things, and maybe I'll regret this later but if you could literally just help with anything that would be greatly appreciated for penes sake. Anyone who knows me knows that my animals are my LIFE. Not having an immediate family has really made me rely on my 4 legged friend for all kind of support and companionship. I really do love her and I hope you guys could find it in your heart to support her.

With the deepest gratitude,
Penelope & Raya
