Last year my two horses and I set out to follow in the footsteps of an amazing woman who rode on horseback around remote parts of Andalusia in 1961. She wrote a book which became a classic, “Two Middle-Aged Ladies in Andalusia”, about her adventures. It was written exclusively in English so the many people I met on my journey who remembered or knew about Penelope Chetwode´s visit had no idea they had been immortalized in print.
I, also, have written a book about my adventures recounting the cultural and social changes that I found since Penelope´s journey, 60 years ago.

but my dream and my promise to the Andalusians who became my friends along the way is that they too can read my book in Spanish as “La Ruta de Penélope”.
I am therefore calling on fellow adventurers to help me financially to fulfil this final and critical element of the project; to translate Penelope’s Route into Spanish and fund its publication in Spain. Without the kind generosity of so many families and Town Halls who welcomed me and helped me in moments of crisis, my journey would have been a non-starter. I am determined to give copies of the book to these wonderful hosts, and would be so grateful for your financial support in helping me achieve this.
· At the going rate of €100 per 1000 words, my book would cost €7000 plus to translate into Spanish, but I have found a good translator who is willing to do it for €4000.
· When translated, I will design, print and publish 100 copies complete with photos of my trip which will cost me at least €2000.
I therefore hope to raise up to €6000 for this project.
Every little helps and anything from €5, (or pounds or dollars!) would be very welcome to add to my funds.
Any contribution you are able to make in the name of adventure, culture, history and friendship will be deeply appreciated.
El año pasado, con mis dos caballos, me propuse seguir los pasos de una mujer increíble que cabalgo por partes remotas de Andalucía en 1961. Escribió un libro sobre sus aventuras que se convirtió en un clásico, "Dos damas de mediana edad en Andalucía", sobre sus aventuras. Se escribio exclusivamente en inglés, por lo que las muchas de las personas que conocí durante mi viaje que recordaban o conocían la visita de Penélope Chetwode no tenían idea de que habían sido inmortalizadas en su libro.
Yo también he escrito un libro sobre mis aventuras y los cambios culturales y sociales que han sucedido en los últimos 60 años en esta parte de España.

pero mi sueño y mi promesa a los andaluces que se convirtieron en mis amigos en el camino es que ellos también pueden leer mi libro en español como "La Ruta de Penélope".
Por lo tanto, hago una llamada a la gente con espiritu aventurero para que me ayuden económicamente a cumplir con este elemento final y crítico del proyecto; traducir la Ruta de Penélope al español y poder financiar su publicación en España. Sin la generosidad de tantas familias y ayuntamientos que me recibieron y me ayudaron en momentos de crisis, mi aventura no hubiera podido ser realizada.
Me gustaria regalar copias del libro, en español, a estos maravillosos anfitriones, y les estaría muy agradecida por su apoyo financiero para ayudarme a conseguirlo.
El precio normal para una traduccion es de 100€ por 1000 palabras, el libro costaría más de 7000€ (pero he encontrado un buen traductor que está dispuesto a hacerlo por 4000€).
También me gustaría imprimir y publicar unas 100 copias completas con fotos del viaje, lo que habría que añadir al menos unos 2000 € más al precio de traducción.
Por lo tanto, necesito recaudar hasta 6000€ para este proyecto.
Cada pequeña ayuda, desde 5€, sería muy bien recibida para agregar a mis fondos.
