Peggy and Molly - Interspecies Friendship

Donation protected
They have been called the modern day pooh and piglet story....

They say a dog is a man's best friend, but how many canines do you know that consider a magpie their best mate?

Peggy the english staffy, and Molly the magpie's "human mother" Juliette Wells believes the pair's unlikely bond is as rare as a Maggie's teeth.

Peggy and Molly have touched the hearts of people all over the world and beyond...now it has come a time that they need your help!

They have fallen into the growing number of people being pushed out of our home and displaced by their landlord. They have 4 weeks to leave as the home “ their beautiful home" for the past 5 YRS is going up for auction.

They had always had plans to buy their rental home but with the previously unseen rise in housing prices its just no longer a viable possibility. Molly has grown up in their home which is in the area of Coomera QLD nestled in the inland Goldcoast region. It turns out the he that they thought was a she is now following his natural instinct and being very territorial which hinders the family from being able to relocate or they may lose Molly or something may happen to him without their daily protection.

One warm Spring day on the 22nd of Sept 2020 while enjoying a walk with our young Staffordshire bullterrier (Peggy) our life changed forever, at the time we had no idea how much . It was the day we found a very young abandoned magpie wondering around lost, weak and frightened.

After taking the necessary steps to ensure it was all alone and not just out and about with parents close by we did what any animal lover would do.... we took it home to keep it safe and alive.

Within the next few weeks something I had never seen or heard of happened , our beautiful Staffy girl took on the role to mother & nurture this little one , coming out of her first season she needed something to nurture not only was she producing milk but this magpie was drinking it .

The bond between these two very different species grew so strong it was nothing short of a miracle . We watched them snuggle, fall asleep together and groom each other, they were inseparable.

As the bond grew stronger so did the messages that they were putting out into a world, in a time when we needed to hear them the most . With everything spinning out of control from pandemics, lockdowns and people losing their jobs, the unlikely friends signified the simple messages of acceptance and love. Despite their differences, they were able to love unconditionally, these two unlikely friends were reminding people of the most important things in life while continuing to aide peoples mental health on a daily basis with their heartfelt videos.

Throughout their story Peggy has had a litter of 5 pups with uncle Molly by her side keeping them all in line, after they decided to keep the only girl of the litter (Ruby), it was pretty obvious from the beginning these two were going to be great mates too.

This is now the only home Peggy , Molly and Ruby have ever known and being a wild bird Molly the magpie has made the bushland and surrounds his playground, but he always comes home.

Please understand that they are not a family of whom would ordinarily ask for help, I know from first hand knowledge that they find this awkward, embarrassing and downright uncomfortable but the alternative is worth swallowing their pride for.

They really need this help, so together, we all need to give it a try, for these beautiful animals, for our community, and for the world. These three have made their way into many peoples hearts all we want for them is to help them feel secure, comfortable and happy. Their plan was to stay in the home that they are in for many years watching Molly become a family man bringing the fledglings back for them to enjoy, making an even bigger blended family and labour of love for all of us to be a part of.

The idea of them being pushed out of thier environment is unfathomable. This is the perfect sanctuary for all of them filled with peace, tranquility and love, and then payed forward to touch all of your hearts.

Please help them to stay here together, any donation is appreciated.

As a community we can do this!!
