PECS Training to support Children with Autism
Tax deductible
We are going to do a 10k run to raise £15,000 to train the whole school in PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
Want to join us in making a difference? We are raising money for The Friends of Drumbeat, and any donation will help make impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to the children.
We aim to meet the needs of very special children and young people to make continued progress in their learning and acquisition of life skills. Our vision is simple - to put our children and young people first every time. We believe that all the children should leave Drumbeat independent, confident, caring, ambitious, courageous, safe respectful, resilient and successful, so that they become valued and respected members of the community.
The training will mean that staff will be able to teach critical communication skills which can be life changing for the pupils and their families. Creating effective teaching environments and reducing unwanted behavior, meeting education healthcare plans/personal goals!
The training will provide staff with the knowledge to deliver PECS which provides all students with an environment suited to their unique needs, it will also support parents and carers to setup supportive environments within the home to enable positive behavior management strategies to be implemented alleviating anxieties by giving the students the ability to communicate effectively.
By raising the whole amount we will be able to train everyone and make immediate positive changes for the students and their families.
