Pebble Power Prizes & Fairy Dust Donors

As the New Day Campaign  closes its doors after four years using arts programming and public engagement to challenge stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and substance use, making the world a more healing place, we seek to boost those who have been central to our creative work... to sprinkle a little fairy dust on the vision of ten inspiring individuals... to give some air under their wings:

Clarence Brown, poet and author of the novellas "Deeds" and "Needs," written following a decades-long addiction to heroin;

ellen cherry, song and story alchemist who in recent years has turned to narratives on her own journey following acquiring PTSD in a near-fatal car accident;

Gloria Garrett, the Mother of Makeup Art, bringing her infectious optimism wherever she goes with her art and spirit, offering healing to all;

Phylicia Ghee, interdisciplinary artist and photographer offering healing, ritual, ceremony, and personal rites of passage in her work;

Tiffany Jones, artist, mother, sister, daughter, and community leader dedicated to making the world a better place through her creative energies;

Michelle Labonte, visual artist chronicling her own journey through mental illness, boldly using her art and voice to advocate for public understanding;

Cyril Scovens, in recovery and carries his message of personal redemption wherever he goes;

Simoné Speed, jazz singer believing in art and healing, dedicating herself to founding the holistic healing and social connection company, “Sister, Heal Thy Self";

George Spicka, jazz composer with more than 650 works to his name, and pianist who has battled debilitating depression all his adult life.

John Viles , a painter of abstract art directly about his own mood disorder, spokesman for compassion and understanding, and mentor to others.

With every dollar donated, 80 cents is divided equally among these ten individuals to help fund Pebble Power Prizes - financial gifts for the impact and future promise of their ongoing healing work... we seek to honor and empower these pebbles in the pond, the impact of their work rippling out in all direction even as the New Day Campaign shutters.

(The other 20 cents on the dollar goes towards expenses associated with the  event at which the prizes will be awarded: "Finale" on June 27, 6-9pm, at The Institute for Integrative Health in Baltimore.)

Fairy Dust Donors who have already generously jumpstarted the Pebble Power Prize fund will present to the honorees,  and all who contribute on this crowdfunding platform will be named aloud for their support.

With an event date of June 27, this fundraising effort ends on June 26. We are taking it up to the last minute in the hopes of reaching or even exceeding our $5,000 goal, allowing us to truly catapult some good work for the wellness of us all.

Please join me: be part of the legacy of the New Day Campaign.
