Peardeck for Hybrid Learning

As you may know, I’m a 7th grade math teacher. During these trying times, teachers are trying to find ways to teach their students who are both home and at school. 

How does hybrid work? Every district, for the most part, has different set ups for hybrid. The thing that is the same is that students can opt to stay home and learn virtually. Students that are choosing to come in, in my district, will come in on “A” and “B” days. On “A” days, the “B” group and students who chose virtual will be virtual while “A” group comes into the schoolto learn. And vice versa.

Why are you choosing PearDeck? I am choosing Peardeck because I have found that I can create my notes for students on the same platform however add a pair deck extension. What would happen is, students who are home who cannot physically get the notes can interact in a different way by drawing or typing to complete their notes.  This makes it a lot easier for students who are learning skills in math (such as fractions) since showing this over the computer can be difficult. As a teacher, I will have a live view of students who are completing their notes and I can see everybody’s at once. This way if I have quite a few students at home, I can watch what they’re doing and their practice work at once and can intervene when needed even though they are not in the classroom.  Students then are able to get a copy of their notes sent to their email so it is similar to taking notes with physical paper and pencil.

I have always tried many ways to help my students learn math. Now during a pandemic, I’m faced with another obstacle by not being able to see my students working. Math is a very important skill to have and during these trying times, I want to make sure I can do everything in my power to help them. I have been using a free trial of PearDeck and have realized that with all options that I’ve been trying, this has been the best one. I would hope to continue this however, my free trial will be expiring soon. I would like to purchase this on my own but I (along with every other teacher in the world) put in a lot of my own money to preparing my classroom and other resources.
